COLONY CARETAKERS:
  • If at all possible, please install surveillance cameras in the areas where your cats feed and congregate.  Photographic or video evidence is needed in most cases to successfully prosecute animal cruelty crimes.
  • If you notice any of your cats are missing, please notify the NYPD, and please contact Astoria7 (via email, Facebook or phone) because we are keeping a record of the missing cats.  You should also stake out your colony and we would recommend not doing this alone.  Please be sure to bring a camera to take pictures of the person, vehicle, license plate number, etc.
  • If you see any food left in your feeding area that was not left by you or a fellow caretaker, please also take extra precaution---someone may be trying to establish a feeding pattern to lure your cats out into the open.  Again, we would advise you to stake out your colony’s feeding area.

PET OWNERS AND THOSE WITH OUTDOOR CATS:
  • If your house cat is normally permitted outdoors, please keep your cat indoors until we have found the person(s) responsible for these abductions.
  • If you are feeding a cat who lives outdoors, or if it is impossible to keep your housecat indoors, please install surveillance cameras in the area where your cat roams.
  • If your cat is missing, please notify the NYPD and please tell Astoria7 (via email or Facebook) because we are keeping a record of the missing cats.
